Theresa Wong of Fang Gourmet Tea will lead us in a calm and peaceful tea ceremony. Fang Gourmet Tea has been featured bySerious Eats. It’s a real treat that Yumcha Yoga has these tea experts for our tea tasting! For November tea tasting, we will pair different cheeses with tea.

FREE MEDITATION WORKSHOP – November 2013

Roger is a pharmacist by day, a yogi by night, and he has been practicing meditation and the Dharma since 1997 at the Chan Meditation Center in Elmhurst, N.Y. under the guidance of Chan master Sheng Yen who founded Dharma Drum Mountain in Taiwan. He has attended multiple lectures, workshops and meditation retreats for many years and is well-versed in Chan (Zen) meditation and its application to daily living.

In this brief workshop, Roger will explain the what, why and how of meditation. We will also practice sitting meditation, walking meditation, and the 8-form moving meditation.

PROGRAM: To introduce our new Yumcha Yoga Kids’ Program, we have a FREE kids’ yoga class, free cartooning demonstration by artist of the critically-acclaimed Dim Sum Warriors comic, and free play for kids in the studio.  Meet the kids’ yoga teacher, studio owner, other parents and chat about parenting, yoga and creativity. Light snacks will be served.

Gourmet tea tasting with Theresa is a journey to discover differently roasted and oxidized teas, and how tea appreciation can also be a kind of meditation.  For July’s tea tasting, we will be exploring pairing tea with different seasonal fruits. Theresa’s tea journey began in 2008 when she started attending tea class in Fang Gourmet Tea. Since then, tea has become more than just a drink to her.  She found herself calm and relaxed through brewing tea, becoming more peaceful and tranquil through drinking and appreciating tea. She started working at Fang Gourmet tea by the end of 2008, so that she’s able to continue learning about tea. Read the wonderful Serious Eats review here.

YUMCHA YOGA GRAND OPENING!

Yumcha Yoga is pleased to announce its grand opening on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Assemblyman Ron Kim and Councilman Peter Koo will attend and cut the ribbon. A Yumcha Yoga instructor will teach a few gentle exercises that can be done at any workspace, and a light lunch will be served. Please come join us for the celebration, food and yoga!
