“Kauśala” (कौशल, pronounced “ko-shuh-la”) means “skillful intelligence” in Sanskrit.
“The word kauśala includes a variety of meanings, such as well-being, welfare, good fortune, prosperity, skillfulness, cleverness, experience, respectful salutation. When the verse explains that yoga is the kausala in all activities, it implies all these intrinsic benefits and good qualities.” – The Bhagavad gita
The Kauśala Method-200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program does not ask students to followed a scripted curriculum with a fixed set of “to dos” and “no-nos”. Instead The Kauśala Method emphasizes Thoughtful Listening to students’ needs, Knowledgeable Reflection, and Creative Teaching.

Masako is known for her mindful, caring, kind and light-hearted approach to yoga and to her students. Masako also teaches at Sacred Sounds Yoga (Manhattan), The Yoga Room (Long Island City), mang’Oh yoga (Manhattan) and The Giving Tree (Astoria).
RYT 500-hr, Pure Yoga; 200-hr Yogic Lifestyle and Science from Savitri Yoga Shal; 200-hr Meditation/ Pranayama, also trained in Pre/Post-natal, Restorative and Yin Yoga.
Sho is best known for his fun, playful, and soothing style. With a fascination in exploring the mind and body’s potential, Sho draws inspiration from his practice in meditation, Iyengar yoga, and circus arts. He blends classical eastern philosophy and the modern western approach for a balanced class. He believes that no matter what the style, yoga should be a healing and enjoyable journey. Sho also teaches at YogaWorks, Chelsea Piers and Pure Yoga in Manhattan.
Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, Restorative Yoga Certification, Advanced Restorative Yoga Certification and Anatomy & Kinesiology for Yoga all with Judith Lasater, 200-Hour Vinyasa Yoga certification with Om Yoga, Yoga Rope Wall Certification, Prenatal Yoga Certification, training and experience acting as a birth coach. intensive study at The Atma Vikasa School of Yogic Science in Mysore, India studying Pranayama, Back Bending and The Yoga Sutra.
Juliana loves the study of the human body and of the human heart & soul. She brings these passions into her teaching and is known for offering a non-judgmental environment full of laughter and self inquiry.
A yoga teacher since 2000, Joe Miller teaches teacher trainings and anatomy and physiology workshops around the world, as well as yoga classes in New York City. Joe has a master’s degree in applied physiology from Columbia University and writes extensively about movement, yoga, anatomy and health.
Leigh Evans, (500 E-RYT) is a yoga teacher based in Brooklyn, New York. Leigh has over 20 years of experience teaching intuitive, creative, alignment-based vinyasa yoga classes. Leigh’s seasoned approach to the yoga practice can transform any student who craves insight on the body and the human experience. From the study of Yoga and Ayurveda in India to Thai Massage in Chiang Mai, Leigh’s breadth of knowledge gives her the tools to teach practical applications that can change students’ everyday lives. Leigh is a go-to resource for Ayurvedic Yoga, seasonal wellness practices, sleep yoga, and women’s yoga practices, and anyone interested in her expertise can benefit from her teaching. Leigh has also had the pleasure of training over 200 of New York’s finest Yoga teachers in the past 5 years through the Yoga Sukhavti teacher training programs.

Who should attend?
(1) Students who are looking to deepen their practice (2) Students who are considering becoming yoga teachers.
Students who attend teacher training should generally have:
(1) Practiced regularly for one year (and if you have not, please check in with Masako or Sho before you sign up); (2) a good understanding of your body and sensitivity to how it words; (3) a clear awareness of any special conditions and injuries you might have and how to modify poses.
What if I can’t make all the sessions?
You are required to attend all the sessions. If for reasons of illness or emergencies, you cannot make the sessions, we could arrange to have you make up the missed sessions with subsequent cohorts if there’s space (you would not have to pay extra but will have to wait a longer time to be certified) or private sessions with the faculty (there will be additional payment for this).
Can I be a yoga teacher after this certification?
Yes. This is a Yoga Alliance Certified Program and you can use your certificate to apply for yoga teacher jobs or to start teaching on your own.
