$5 Community Classes Every now and then, Yumcha Yoga invites brand new certified teachers to teach $5 community classes. These tend to be gentle vinyasa classes. They give the community an opportunity to experience yoga practice at a low fee, and the new teacher some teaching experience that will help them in their growth.
Align and Flow A lot of yoga practitioners might have practiced yoga for a long time but might continue to have imbalances in their poses. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners. It is vinyasa-based and focuses on the alignment of yoga poses maximizing the benefits of each pose and minimizing injuries. Flow and Restore A unique experience with three quarters Vinyasa Flow and one quarter Restorative poses. You will get a good work out building heat, strength and flexibility, and also get to rest your bodies and spirits. Restorative yoga is a slow practice using props such as blocks, bolsters and blankets with a focus on healing. Suitable for people suffering from chronic stress and tension especially in the shoulders, neck, and back. Restorative yoga creates deep release and brings calmness to your nervous system. *Suitable for beginners & seasoned practitioners.
Hatha A classical approach to yoga, this class combines pranayama (breath work) and asanas (yoga postures) to promote peace in the body and mind. This class focuses on classic postures with a deep awareness of correct posture and the state of our minds. *Suitable for beginners & seasoned practitioners.
Intermediate For students looking to progress in their practice and dive further into more advanced asanas. Gain insight into challenging yoga postures with detailed instruction to help refine your technique and go deeper. *Only for seasoned practitioners
Power Suitable for those who practice yoga for fitness and weight-loss. Vigorous fast-paced vinyasa-style yoga that will help you work up a sweat! As the pace is fast, the teacher will not be able to correct poses as much as in slower-paced class. Therefore, this class is recommended for students who already practice regularly and have a good sense of alignment of the poses. *Suitable for those who like a strong physical practice.
Restorative Yoga and Sound Healing Restore and revitalize your being by immersing yourself in the internal practices of yoga. Enjoy delicious restorative yoga poses to relax and rejuvenate your body mind. Nourish and harmonize your subtle body through the healing power of sound and chanting. Stress Buster Suitable for stressed out individuals or those with imbalances in their bodies through daily activities such as working on the computer or carrying bags on one side of the body. Practice will use various props and a focus on breath to realign and balance the body. The goal of the class is to end with stillness so that our minds and bodies can be recharged to face the world afresh.*Suitable for beginners & seasoned practitioners
Vinyasa Suitable for those looking for deeper strength and flexibility with a focus on connecting movement with breath. The practice is a dynamic flow between poses. Practitioners will find heat generated through the movement between poses and their core strength engaged. Open level class for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. *Suitable for beginners & seasoned practitioners
Warm Vinyasa A Vinyasa Flow class at 80-85 degrees temperature and to specially selected playlists. Expect to sweat more because of the heat and particular heat-building poses, but it will be a gentle rather than oppressive heat. *Suitable for those who like a strong physical practice.
Yin-Yang Flow Suitable for those who want a slower, deeper practice with a focus on the connective tissue in the joints: shoulders, knees, hips. Especially if you have a Yang physical practice from lifting weights, sports, Power yoga, Yin yoga will work on the connective tissue that doesn’t often get stretched in Yang practice. The class begins with a flow sequence to warm up the body and then Yin poses where each position is held for a a few minutes so that the practice goes deep into your connective tissue and deep in your joints to provide relief and healing. *Suitable for beginners & seasoned practitioners
Yoga Nidra Power Sleep Yoga Nidra, often called the art of conscious relaxation, is a healing practice which has been used to reduce anxiety, depression, pain, insomnia, and a number of other modern disease states. It is a unique meditation done on the back that helps to quiet the overactive mind and unwind the nervous system.
